Mafia / Gangsters

During the 1920's prohibition there was a huge ban on
alcohol. Agents tried to get rid of it, and people started up a big
business selling it. These people were known as mafias and
gangsters. Such as Al Capone, who was a famous prohibition
gangster from Chicago.

Capone destroyed all of his competition and sold alcohol to
build a business. Of course this business he had going led to
the big bucks. Many gangsters like Al Capone and others used
many sources to scare off agents who had threatened them. Obviously though, the government
had a really hard time in the 1920's trying to get rid of alcohol with allthe gangsters and the
mafias around which is one of the big reasons why the prohibition failed. But many agents who
tried to get rid of speakeasies which were illegal bars that served alcohol were scared and
threatened alot by people who were gangsters and people in the mafia.

For mafias and gangsters, the prohibition mean a new way of making money. They created
jobs and were fahionable by the way that they had dressed and for the cars they rode in. With
the gangstersand mafia they created easy money, prostitution, and a new way of making crime
grow bigger.
